I have never played through a d120 or d120f but i only know what ted weber has said.

I think the weber 12 neomag is closer to a jdl d120 than the california.
I see too many players saying that the weber california is not a good speaker choice for anything except clean playing amps.
The bass is full and controlled the speaker is efficient and heavy.

The cali has a 2 inch voice coil.
The jbl s all had 4 inch voice coils.
The weber neomag has edgewound voice coil and a 4 one at that.

The amp is clean with the volume on 6 and starts to get dirty above that but that s coming from the amp not the speaker.
