Factory air pressure settings in the water pressure bladder tank.
Well bladder tank pressure setting.
Use a car tire pressure gauge to measure pressure.
Some models may come with different pressure settings however.
The pressure switch setting is the pressure at which the pump turns on to fill the tank up and the pressure at which the pump shuts off knowing the tank is full.
Typical factory set air pressure on a bladder type residential well water tank is 18 psi.
Keep in mind the drawdown will change based on the pressure of the tank.
If your tank s bladder has failed reassess the drawdown capacity of your tank and make sure you have a tank that can support your pressure settings and well pump.
Well x trol water pressure tanks are shipped from the factory.
The small and medium tanks have 28 lbs.
Prior to operation with the tank empty of water the pressure should be 2psi below the cut on pressure.
You can charge the tank via the air valve using a car tire inflator a compressor or even a bike pump.
This will let some air out and it will also tell the pressure in the tank.
The three pressure switch settings for pressure tanks are 20 40 30 50 and 40 60.
So for example with a 30 50 pressure switch factory default setting air pressure in the tank will equal 28psi.
All new tanks come with a certain level of pressure already in the tank.
If the pressure switch is adjusted to 40 60 the cut on pressure will be 38psi.
